Global Data Science Competition 2022

Closing the Global Skills Gap

In the wake of the Covid-19 Pandemic, the great resignation, and continued technological disruption, labour markets worldwide are becoming less resilient. Paradoxically, the issue is not so much on the demand side but on the supply side: people have either exited the labour force or are not trained with the right skills to meet rapidly evolving demand. According to one study, the global skills gap could reach 85 million by 2030 – with the world’s 1.3 billion youth between 18 and 24 years being particularly vulnerable to this widening skills gap.

Your team will be tasked by the Secretary General of the United Nations to provide deep data analysis and modelling on the resolution proposed to address this burning issue before a special meeting with the Ministers of Education and Labour from around the World.
